I was watching the Miss Universe 2006 pageant this morning and Miss Japan, Kurara Chibana, really stood out from the crowd! Not surprising... she came in as first runner-up! Here's a little about this stunning beauty! I really admire her beauty and personality!
Kurara Chibana was born 27 March 1982. A native of Naha City (the capital of the island of Okinawa), she is a Psychology graduate from Sophia University.
This 177cm beauty works as a feature reporter, flying around the world to interview unique people for a leading fashion magazine in Japan. She writes and takes photos of their lifestyles. Kurara is also an avid sportswoman who loves tennis, swimming and a certified kickboxing instructor!
She has also been running in marathons for six years. But her real passion she says, "It's dancing Flamenco".
Between her 2nd and 3rd years in the University, she moved to Paris for a year to study French and also lived in Spain for three months to learn Flamenco and Spanish.
Kurara has a favorite Okinawan proverb that says the heart is the most essential human quality and you should try to follow what it tells you. It is a message the 24-year-old has carried with her since she grew up in Naha and it is a message that has brought her the title of Miss Universe Japan.
She is the first runner-up in Miss Universe 2006 but won the award for best national costume. Miss Universe 2006 went Miss Puerto Rico, Zuleyka Rivera.
